Timberlake Accepts Reduced Charge, Apologizes for Actions

Justin Timberlake faced legal trouble after being pulled over in Sag Harbor, New York, on June 18, 2024. Police observed Timberlake running a stop sign and swerving between lanes. He was arrested shortly after midnight. Police reported that Timberlake had bloodshot and glassy eyes. They also noted a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Timberlake performed poorly on field sobriety tests.

Plea Deal and Sentence

Initially, Timberlake faced a DWI charge. However, he later accepted a plea deal. On September 13, 2024, Timberlake pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. The reduced charge was driving while ability impaired (DWAI). This happened at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court. Justice Carl Irace oversaw the proceedings. Timberlake received a sentence of 25 hours of community service. He must complete these hours at a nonprofit organization. He also has to pay a $500 fine.

Following the hearing, Timberlake issued a public apology. He stood outside the courthouse in Sag Harbor. This is a mistake that I made, Timberlake stated. He urged people to avoid driving after drinking alcohol. Timberlake will also participate in a public service announcement. This announcement will focus on the dangers of drunk driving. During his apology, Timberlake expressed disappointment in himself. He also shared his gratitude for those involved in the case. He acknowledged the strain his actions placed on the Sag Harbor community.
