From Hollywood to the High Banks: Frankie Muniz’s NASCAR Journey
Frankie Muniz, the actor we all know and love from Malcolm in the Middle, is taking a sharp turn in his career. He’s swapping the sitcom set for the racetrack, going full-throttle into the world of NASCAR. He’s not just dipping his toes in the water either. Muniz is diving headfirst, committing to a full-time run in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He’ll be driving the No. 33 Ford F-150 for Reaume Brothers Racing, backed by Ford Performance.
Muniz isn’t a stranger to the racing scene. He’s already gotten some seat time this year, competing part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Emerling-Gase Motorsports. His Xfinity debut at Daytona didn’t go quite as planned, ending with a 37th-place finish due to a crash. He also dipped his toes into the Truck Series this year, achieving his best finish of 29th at Kansas Speedway. This is particularly impressive considering he raced with a broken rib. Ouch!
Gearing Up for 2025
His recent 33rd-place finish in a Truck Series race was plagued with mechanical issues. However, these hiccups haven’t deterred him. He’s dedicated to honing his skills, spending hours training, running simulations, and studying past races. This guy is serious about racing!
Muniz has been building up his racing resume for a while now. In 2023, he finished an impressive fourth in the ARCA Menards Series points standings. He consistently placed well, scoring 11 top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at Michigan. This experience has undoubtedly prepared him for the challenges of the Truck Series.
He first made his Xfinity Series debut at Daytona International Speedway in February 2024, driving the No. 35 Ford Performance Ford Mustang for Joey Gase Motorsports. Unfortunately, he got caught up in The Big One, a large crash common at Daytona and Talladega. This led to a disappointing 37th-place finish.
Muniz’s first Truck Series race didn’t go exactly as planned, but it’s clear he’s not giving up. With his dedication, experience in ARCA, and the backing of a solid team, he’s set to make a real impact in the 2025 Truck Series. The season kicks off on February 14 at Daytona International Speedway, and we can’t wait to see what he can do. It’s going to be exciting to watch this Hollywood star navigate the twists and turns of NASCAR.
